Data classifications

Data settings available in PROTIDE are classified via a "data classification". This indicates the order each prediction source is to be used in a calculation and implies the accuracy of the data.

Order in the calculation

There can be several sources that do predictions on the same subject. For example, there is an astronomical water level, there are models that incorporate certain extra information like wind and there are experts who can join information from different sources/models to an accurate water level estimation. All these different sources of data can be added to PROTIDE as data settings, but what will PROTIDE then use in a calculation? This is determined by the data classification. The data settings are all tagged with a "classification" level that tell PROTIDE the order they should be used in a tidal window calculation. Data settings that are about the same location (position along a channel) and unit (water level, water speed, water direction or swell) are to be tagged with different classifications.

Data classificatie module

If you have appropriate rights, you can add, edit or delete data classifications via the Data classification module. This module is accessible via the main menu item Settings and sub menu Calculation data. Make sure to update the items in the Data settings module if you plan to remove data classifications.
